The Landing School Beach Pea combines the best characteristics of seaworthiness and traditional charm. Whether used for exploring the coast, marshes, rivers or inland lakes, its reputation as a tender is excellent.

Available as in a 13' or 15' length, the Beach Pea is a modern adaptation of the Peapod, a classic, centuries-old design. The Beach Pea was designed by Doug Hylan to be stable and seaworthy, like its predecessors; but he incorporated modern materials and construction techniques into the Peapod re-design to enhance the boat's durability and strength, while decreasing necessary maintenance. Each glued lapstrake boat is sold with a spruce rig and a pair of rowing oars.
The original Peapods, which were popular as work boats among fishermen at the end of the 19th century, were revered for their stability and seaworthiness. The Landing School Beach Peas, built with glued lapstrake planking from the highest quality materials, reflect even greater durability and sturdiness than was characteristic of the originalpods. Laminated mahogany stems are glued and bolted to the solid mahogany keel for added strength.Once the hull is built, it’s coated with an epoxy barrier inside and out. This modern construction method gives the boat additional rigidity as well as ease of maintenance while keeping a
traditional appearance.
All fasteners are made of silicon bronze. The two rowing thwarts and both end-seats are varnished mahogany, and rubrails are covered with a canvas gunwale guard that set off the beautiful sweeping sheer. The craftsmanship of each Landing School Beach Pea is of the highest quality.
